Jami Saunders

Name / Occupation: Jami Saunders / Photographer / Co-Founder, Kids of Kathmandu (A non-profit that provides education / food / solar for orphans in Nepal).

Currently working on: Wedding season is kicking off now. I’m excited to be traveling a lot this year all in the name of love, also working on a line called Good(s)—A baby cashmere line and a collection of rugs, all made in Nepal at charitable organizations there, and wholesale proceeds will go to new projects in Nepal for children

What’s in or on your vanity?:

Ojon Restorative Shampoo. My hair tends to be dry and this shampoo feels like magic.

Dry Bar Happy Hour Conditioner. I’m obsessed with the smell of this conditioner and it’s very moisturizing without being heavy.

Space NK Unwind Body Wash. I love the smell and feel of this. Such a treat in the shower.

Meros Hair Foundation Jell. I’m realizing most everything I buy is because I love the smell! This is no exception. It’s a japanese product that I get at my japanese hair salon (where I’ve been going to for 15 years called Sei Tomoko, love Tomoko, who owns the place with her husband) and this product is a great final touch after a blow dry.

Dr. Perricone Nutritive Cleanser. I use it with my Clarisonic.

Algenist Reconstructing Serum. The most amazing product ever! My mom turned me on to this line. My mom’s skin is ridiculous and I listen to anything she says in this department! Everything I know about skin care is from my mom.

Amore Pacific Future Response Creme. Unfortunately this creme isn’t cheap, but I look forward to using it every day! The smell is almost like flowering seaweed and it’s cool but not cold, if that makes sense. I dont like super cold cream, especially during the endless winter we’ve been having in NYC.

Josie Maran Argan Infinity Cream. Yet another product line my mom turned me onto. This cream is totally all purpose. Digging around in my camera bags, I tend to rip up the skin around my nails. I’ve been using this on my cracking hands, especially during the winter and It’s literally like a band-aid without the band-aid.

Donna Karan Cashmere Mist Deodorant. The best deodorant ever!

Le Labo Santal 26. I know this one is the room spray, but I use it as a body spray. Obession worthy. I have only enough drops left for a few days! Too bad my birthday isn’t for another 6 months.

Tarte Lipsurgence Matte Lip Tint. Love these. Bright and bold, but matte and not drying. Lasts all night, I just don’t recommend drinking red wine when wearing these! Stick with champagne.

Which product(s) you can’t live without?: Well, I could survive without them all, spending time in Nepal makes me very aware of that, but having them makes the survival more much more enjoyable.

Favorite place to shop for your goods?: My mom’s vanity, Sephora and Bloomingdales.

Biggest beauty secret?: Use what makes you happy. Happiness makes your skin glow.

Amanda Kingloff

vanity_10amandakingloffVANITY_PROFILEName /  Occupation: Amanda Kingloff / Professional Crafter (yes we do exist), Stylist, and Author

Currently working on: I just published my first craft book—Project Kid: 100 Ingenious Crafts for Family Fun. I am visiting bookstores all over the tristate area (and the south, where I’m from) signing books and crafting with kids. Most of my fans are under 4-feet tall.

What’s in or on your vanity?:

Moisturizers: Eucerin Daily Protection and Eucerin Redness Relief Soothing Night Creme. Why these? Because Allure.com told me to.

Make-up remover: I don’t wear a ton of make-up often, but when I do, it’s usually for an event, a wedding, or a photo-shoot and nothing feels better than stripping it off. I use Benefit Remove It, and I won’t tell a lie, the pretty packaging made me buy it.

Facial scrub: When I worked at Parents magazine, one of the biggest perks was the beauty sales…anything you could ever want for a dollar. Literally. The beauty editor is a good friend to have at any publication, and when I was in the market for a new face-wash regimen, Tracy talked me into the Simple line. And I’ve been using the Soothing Facial Scrub ever since. (Now I pay more than $1. Bah.)

Hair care, wet: I have curly hair and I. Have. Tried. It. All. I just got turned onto Evo products—organic and if nothing else, the copy on the bottle will convince you. I mix Liquid Rollers and Gangsta Grip on my wet hair.

Hair care, dry:  I spray DevaCurl’s Set it Free on my dry hair, and then curl it with a large-barrel curling iron. I know, curling curly hair sounds ludicrous, but it’s kinda magic.

Bobby pins: My husband was sick and tired of finding bobby pins all over the house, so he bought me a hot-pink Magnetic Hedgehog (meant to hold paperclips) to store my pins. It sits in the wall-mounted soap dish over our sink.

Make-up: I wear 2 items daily: Guerlain Cils D’enfer Maxi Lash Mascara (the best I’ve ever used) and Clinique’s Airbrush Concealer. This combo makes me look awake—which is really all I can ask for.

Lip gloss: I’ve been wearing the C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Tints for years. They aren’t too sticky and they have a minty scent, so when I exhale, it’s like I’ve just eaten an Altoid. My favorite color is Magenta Mint.

Kids’ toothpaste: My kids have toothbrushes all over the house—dental care never happens in the same place every day. So I have a bottle of Branam Xylitol Toothpaste for Kids (Yum Yum Bubblegum) in our bathroom. I used it once in a sleepy stupor. It was pretty fantastic.

Which product(s) you can’t live without?: My BaBylissPro Porcelain Ceramic 1 1/4″ Spring Curling Iron. The day after I wash my hair, I do everything in my power to fight nature, as many curly girls do, with tools to give me soft waves instead of tight ringlets. So I go lock by lock and curl over the curl. A trick I learned when I was maid of honor at my best friend’s wedding back in 2005.

Favorite place to shop for your goods?: One-stop shops like Sephora and Soap.com because I seriously don’t have time for anything else.

Biggest beauty secret?: All of the above. I’ve got nothin’ else!

Bri Emery

vanity_09VANITY_PROFILEbriemeryName / Location: Bri Emery / Los Angeles, California

Occupation: Creative director, blogger at Designlovefest, and photoshop teacher to bloggers over at Blogshop.

Currently working on: We recently launched our photoshop workshop, Blogshop, in an online format, so that’s been taking up a lot of my time. I’ve also been in the process of designing my bedroom and new studio which is a lot of fun.

What’s in your vanity:

Kevin Murphy Resort Spray: I like the messy beach hair look and this does the trick. And smells like summer too.

Pink Clay Soap: I have to admit, the packaging of this line is what originally what drew me in. But I love their soaps and face masks! They look pretty in the bathroom.

Chanel Nail Polish Remover: I saw this nail polish remover in a makeup store in Stockholm and was kicking myself for not buying that beautiful glass pink bottle (and seriously it works way better than your average remover!) Luckily, my friend got it for me as a gift when I couldn’t quit talking about it.

Number 4 Hydrating Shampoo: I just like it.

Ban.do pretty bobbi pins: I’m growing out my bangs and it’s a painful process. I always have to find unique ways to braid them or pin them back. These subtle yet sparkly bobbi pins add a nice touch.

Aurora Spa Body Creme: I had a massage when I was traveling for work last year and it was the best I’d ever had. They used all of these lotions and hair scrubs in a massive shower. I left with a few of the products because I loved the smell. I use this lotion everyday and it reminds me of that massage every time. Instant relaxation for me.

Simple Revitalizing Eye Roll-On: My mom sent me this “tired eyes roller” in the mail once when she knew I was working a lot of late nights. I keep one in my bathroom and purse now and swear it wakes me up when I use it! Maybe it’s just in my mind, but that’s ok I guess.

Stila Liquid Eye Liner: Finally an eye liner that’s simple to apply a good cat eye.

Restorsea Finishing Mist: I am a total sucker for a good hydrating mist. I don’t really wash my face that often (I know I know, I should) but I like spraying this on before bed and when I wake up…and any other time I pass by the bathroom.

Goldwell Soft Color 10V: I get my hair dyed a platinum color. I use this violet mousse in between trips to the salon and it gives my hair that cooler violet blonde color i’m looking for. I just let it sit on my hair for a few minutes and rinse. Very easy!

Which product/s can’t you live without?: Seriously, face mists! I like anything that feels like I am in a spa. I also love lavender oil when I’m stressed and candles in every room.

Favorite place to shop for your goods: Sephora and this blog. James knows what’s up! I also have a friend who splurges on beauty products, so I let her try them out first and she gives me the go-ahead on the ones she likes.

Biggest beauty secret: Pinch your cheeks before a date or meeting. Simple and effective for the rosy look. And sleep more!

Name / Location: Amanda Doll Sheppard / New York City

Occupation: Stylist.

Currently working on: Styling private clients and virtually cataloging their closets online so that they can ‘shop’ their existing wardrobe. How many times do we forget the things we own and either buy too much of one style or neglectto wear the things we already own? I hope to solve this conundrum for my clients. On the side, I love designing new pieces for Natura Redux (my creative outlet), blogging and volunteering at Dress for Success.

What’s in your vanity?:

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray + Bumble and Bumble Dryspun Finish Spray = awesome volume and curls that bounce back even after a hot yoga session.

Davines Alchemic Copper Shampoo and Conditioner keep my red hair vibrant.

Moisturizer for night: Rodin Luxury Face Oil.

Moisturizer for day: Cetaphil Daily Facial moisturizer with SPF 15. I ran out of my Crème de la Mer and went to my boyfriend’s side of the vanity to use this drugstore brand and fell in love with the way it makes my skin look and feel. I have not had to go for my monthly microderm in three months!

Nude Perfect Cleansing Oil is the best for removing layers of mascara and make up without irritating the skin.

Caudalie Divine Oil is an awesome all around moisturizer. I especially love to spray it on after hot yoga as it is light-weight and smells amazing

Which product/s can’t you live without? Dry Body Brush (It kills the first few times and then you’re hooked on how soft your skin becomes!) Also,Caudalie Beauty Elixir for a mid-day refresh.

Favorite place to shop for your goods: I’m an online shopper, so Net-a-Porter and Soap.net rock my world… but for instant gratification I love a good trip to Sephora or Ricky’s like any girl.

Biggest beauty secret: Anastasia Eye-brow gel to tame and shape my unruly brows. Brush on a shadow with an eyeliner brushto fill in the shape and you’ll feel like Cara Delevigne.

Occupation: Marketing for Without Walls, A newly launched activewear shop for Urban Outfitters.

Currently working on: Bringing together a community of artists and athletes and community organizers to get stoked on Without Walls.

What’s in your vanity:

Weleda Wild Rose Smoothing Day Cream: I usually use Origins A Perfect World cream, but just switched because I love Weleda’s packaging—those tubes! I’m convinced that a heavy moisturizer will make me look younger—dewey or oily, I don’t care..

Diptyque Eau Rose: I am either wafting in Sandalwood or Rose depending on my mood and season. Lately, I’ve been going full Rose trying to will Spring to come.

Kiehls Superbly Restorative Argan Body Lotion: I’m a sucker for Argan (hello, all the Josie Maran products) and I love how unisex Kiehl’s is—my husband and I share this moisturizer.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer: I don’t know a girl who doesn’t wear this. I have two at all times so one’s in my bag, and the other is at home.

Origins GinZing Mascara: I typically think that any old drugstore mascara will do, but I’ve found myself buying this more expensive one twice in a row.

Bioderma Crealine H20: Hands down, this is my favorite product. I discovered it in Paris from one of my mother’s chicest friends; at first I thought it was so odd that she didn’t wash her face with water (and reminds me of that Mad Men line when Meghan was in that focus group). But now, I am obsessed: I order it from Amazon or ask anyone going to Europe to bring it back for me. It’s always so cool on the cotton pad, and has just the right texture. I can’t explain why I love it so much but I swear by it.

Decleor Experience De L’Age Masque: One of my friends told me to do a mask once a week. I’m lucky if I remember once a month, but I love the light smell and deep moisturizing properties of this one. I also love that Charcoal one from Origins that burns like hell and immediately makes you feel like you detoxed your skin.

Paw Paw cream: When my Aussie friends bring me back a tube, it lasts for a year and is the BEST lip balm ever.

Which product/s can’t you live without?: Perfume. It stresses me out if I don’t travel with it and can never do carry-on as a result.

Favorite place to shop for your goods: With a baby, a new job and a new city, I’m an online shopper. But nothing beats a fun hour at a beauty counter.

Biggest beauty secret: Heritage Products Rose Water: I keep one in my car and one at work. It’s the best!!! Spritz that and then tap on some Benetint Cheek Stain and you’ll look and feel totally revived.

Currently working on: My Spring collection for my website and collaborative Spring pieces with other boutiques and moving into a new workspace.

What’s in your vanity:

Clinique Moisture Surge Foundation: My skin gets really dry in the winter and this foundation keeps my skin moisturized all day and it goes on like lotion so it has a really natural soft look to it – which I love.

Clinique All About Eyes Concealer: I have really big eyes and if I’m at all tired it shows so I need a little something extra for under my eyes. I put it on at the same time as my concealer so it blends really nice and looks seamless even though it’s a tad thicker than my concealer.

Affinage Cool Blonde Conditioner and Shampoo: I only use this one to two times a month because it works that well! I usually use it when I take a bath and leave the conditioner in for most of the bath so that it colors and moisturizes all at the same time.

Number 4 Lumiere d’hiver Restore & Repair Oil + Texture Styling Creme: I use these two simultaneously – I use a dime size portion of the texture styling cream and two pumps of the repair oil mixed together – it gives my hair texture and shine while adding needed moisture.

L’oreal She’s So Matte Black – This is a fun nail polish that goes on matte instead of shiny so I usually use it in combination with a shiny nail polish like a nude base coat on most of the nail and then tipped with the matte black.

Paper Street Laboratories Grapefruit and Eucalyptus Salt Soap Scrub, I was my face with a bunch of different hand soaps but the one pictured is Salt of the Earth no. 205: I love that these are all natural and they both smell amazing! The salt scrub is coarse but makes your skin feel so great after and the Salt of the Earth soap has so many natural oils in it that it cleans my face without giving it that really dry feeling. And it’s just an added bonus that they are such beautiful products.

Mary Kay Satin Hands: My mother-in-law introduced me to this and now I’m hooked! It makes your hands feel like silky smooth and full of much needed moisture.

What product/s can’t you live without: Clinique Moisture Surge Foundation – There are two things that I’ll almost never leave the house without and one of those is my moisture surge foundation! I have dryer, sensitive skin and this goes on like a lotion so it keeps my skin hydrated and it isn’t too heavy so it keeps my skin from breaking out. Clinique Mascara – This is the other beauty product I don’t usually leave the house without, mostly because I have really light blonde eyelashes so without mascara on I look really pale. Number 4 Lumiere d’hiver Restore & Repair Oil + Texture Styling Creme – These two products are more recent finds but they have made a world of difference! It was one of those “Where have you been all my life?” moments. To use, I put a dime size portion of the texture styling cream and one to two pumps of the restore and repair oil in the palm of my hand and then mix them together. I then lightly run that through my hair and it adds the right amount of texture and sleekness that my hair needed.

Favorite place to shop for your goods: My hair products I buy from Steller Hair Co. in Minneapolis and I buy my Clinique from Macy’s.

Biggest beauty secret: Oh, man, this is hard! I don’t know if I have a beauty secret! I guess, I just have a routine and I stick to it – I take a bath almost every night, I wash my hair every three to four days, I wash my face every night and I always make sure to moisturize.
